Bronzeville and Kenwood are epicenters for history, culture, art, and architecture. Located in Chicago’s South Side next to one another, both neighborhoods are less than five miles from downtown.
Kenwood is located along the shores of Lake Michigan, providing charming waterside views. It was once one of Chicago's most affluent neighborhoods and still houses some of the most massive, gorgeous neoclassical homes in the city. Kenwood is known for its architectural brilliance. Here, you’ll find charming coach homes, mid-century mansions, and chic modern homes on tree-lined streets with lush landscaping. Stunning Art Deco buildings are a prominent fixture of the community.
Bronzeville is rich in history and has been flourishing for decades. The city was nicknamed “The Black Metropolis” when African Americans migrated here from the Jim Crow south in the early 20th century. The newfound community created a hub for thriving business and a lively community, and the Chicago Black Renaissance art movement was birthed right in Bronzeville shortly thereafter. Now in its own modern-day renaissance, the area is embracing its legacy of strength and community. Enjoy the exciting array of coffee shops, bistros, galleries, lofts, and libraries all around the neighborhood.
